Born and raised in France, Elisa Chelle is an academic specializing in policy and politics in France and in the United States.

Elisa Chelle is currently a Professor of Political Science at University Paris Nanterre. She holds a secondary appointment as Affiliate Researcher at Sciences Po.

Her roles include leadership positions in the French National Council of Universities, the French University Institute, the French Political Science Association and the International Political Science Association. She is also an active member of the American Political Science Association, where she co-chairs the French Politics group.

Elisa Chelle serves as Editor of Politique américaine and Associate Editor of French Politics.

In recent years, Elisa Chelle has been Visiting Professor at Cornell, Columbia, Georgetown, and CUNY.

She is the author of three books, the latest being La démocratie à l’épreuve du populisme. Les leçons du trumpisme (Odile Jacob, 2025).
